#NBA Suns trade Scola to Pacers in 3-player deal http://dlvr.it/3jrjRc
While the Raiders have had their fair share of controversy over the past decade, Silver's report has to further dishearten fans of the Silver and Black, considering that Oakland wasn't supposed to enter the 2013 season with quarterback drama.
The Raiders traded two draft picks for Matt Flynn in April with the intention of developing him into a franchise player.
But for the second straight year, Flynn was unimpressive in the preseason (19-of-27 for 180 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and a lost fumble), and Pryor's ability to hurt defenses with both his arm and legs helped him rise up the depth chart and leapfrog Flynn.
Pryor played in all four of Oakland's preseason games, completing 17 of 32 passes (53.1 completion percentage) for 221 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also rushed for 131 yards and a score on 14 attempts.
McGloin, a 23-year-old undrafted rookie from Penn State, appeared in all four of the team's preseason games as well, completing 20 of 35 pass attempts (57.1 completion percentage) for 279 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.
The reported skepticism surrounding Pryor likely means he will have very little room for error at the start of the season. If his deficiencies show themselves in September, Oakland fans could get an early look at McGloin, who showed glimpses of what he can do with the offense during the preseason.
Flynn must be considered an option as well. If both Pryor and McGloin are struggling to generate offense, Oakland would likely waste little time naming Flynn the starter, especially considering that it invested two draft picks in him this past offseason.
Overall, the lack of consensus and direction within the franchise is disconcerting, especially for Pryor, who appears set to make his season debut as an NFL starter without the full confidence and backing of his organization.
