Elliott Sadler won’t run Texas Cup race, hopes to add more events for RCR
Elliott Sadler still plans to run more Sprint Cup races for Richard Childress Racing later this year, but the race Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway won’t be one of them.
Sadler, a full-time competitor for RCR in the Nationwide Series, drove the No. 33 RCR car in the Daytona 500, and RCR fielded the car in the next four races for driver Brendan Gaughan
The team is partnering with former team owner Joe Falk to field a car for the remainder of the season, with Sadler, his brother Hermie and Falk’s nephew, C.E. Falk, among the expected drivers.
Hermie Sadler is on the entry list for Texas.
“We just don't want to do anything halfway,” said Sadler, who was asked by RCR to turn down a five-race Cup deal with Michael Waltrip Racing. “We both want to be able to do it 100 percent, so we were just not able to get everything that we needed for the Texas race to go there and feel like we were going to have a shot to win the race.
“So we decided to wait until the stars line up a little better, not only just for me but also for RCR as a whole.”
just as a reminder tomorrow's show will be going on still. we will have it around 4,5 ct tomorrow. ill put a link on the news articles tomorrow when its ready.
